Dear Summer Camp Parents,
We want to welcome you and your children to this season of the Bolinas-Stinson Summer Camp!
If you have children is enrolled in our first week, you will receive a call from their counselors before the first day of camp.
If your children are enrolled in any other weeks of camp, we will contact you over the weekend before they begin camp to let you know where to meet on their first day. If counselors can’t reach you they will try to leave a message.
Weekly schedules are passed out on the Friday before each new week of camp, available to new camp families on their first day, and posted to our website over each weekend for the following week.
All camp days begin at 9:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM. Counselors are not paid beyond 3:15. Please be sensitive to this! Children not picked up by that time will be brought to the school for pick-up. Please contact counselors by cell phone if you are late. The weekly schedule has a complete list of counselors and their cell contacts. If you do not make contact with counselors, a fee of $1.00 for each minute after 3:25 will be required from you! This is new policy based on many, many minutes of waiting with campers without notice from parents.
The first day of camp will begin at the tennis court on Brighton Avenue in Bolinas. At that time both a master schedule for the first week of camp and a map of the area, if you need one, will be given to you by your child’s counselor. KEEP THIS SCHEDULE AND GUARD IT WITH YOUR LIFE; It will save hours of anguish for you to know the place your child’s group will be dropped off and picked up each day.
Much of the time younger campers will be meeting at the Bolinas-Stinson School campus in Bolinas at 9:00 am. However, drop-off and pick-up sites for older campers will vary from day to day and group to group. Some days, groups will gather at a hiking trailhead or other location. These locations will be noted on your schedule. If you are picking up children from different groups, please check your master schedule to be sure where to pick them up. Car-pooling is also advised to ease the stress of finding that you’re needed in two places at the same time!!!
Your campers should be prepared each day with a snack, lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, hat, bathing suit and towel. Please pack a substantial amount of food, as campers seem to be very hearty eaters! We also recommend that a jacket be tucked into each camper’s backpack in case of cool weather. We also require that campers wear appropriate shoes for hiking or tide pooling on days when those activities are scheduled. If they’re in the car, they’ll be there. If they’re at home, you’ll need to go back and get them. We do not allow hiking in flip-flops!!!
PLEASE LABEL YOUR CHILDREN’S BELONGINGS. We have a steadily growing Lost and Found during camp that goes to the Bolinas Freebox at camp’s end.
EACH YEAR, WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH THE TRANSPORT OF CAMPERS FROM ONE LOCATION TO ANOTHER. PLEASE LET KATHY OR YOUR COUNSELORS KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP! YOU WILL BE CONTACTED IF WE NEED YOU ON THE DAYS YOU DESIGNATE. WE LOVE OUR TRANSPORT VOLUNTEERS, AND THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!!
